The Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a numeric code issued by the government of India to identify taxpayers. This single number can be used to tie together all information related to one person for reference for deposits into bank accounts, tax filings, and other situations.This is designed to track financial transactions against taxpayers and prevent any attempts of tax evasion.
Form 60 is a document which is filed by an individual or an individual (not a company or a firm) for carrying out a financial transaction, in which it is mandatory to mention PAN as the person concerned does not have PAN. Form 60 can be used by such people in lieu of furnishing PAN in many cases. Form 60 is a declaration to be filed by an individual or an individual (not being a company or a firm) who does not have a PAN and who enters into any transaction specified in rule 114B.
Form 60 is also used when there is purchase and sale of property, payment in cash in excess of ₹50,000, filing of tax returns, registration of business, and others.
