Pitru Tarpan Samagri List Overview
Hinduism describes various types of Shraddha such as Nandi Shraddha, Parvan Shraddha, Tripindi Shraddha and Annual Shraddha Puja. Meaning of Shraddha : – ‘Shraddhaaya diyate yath tat shraddham.’ ‘Shraddha’ means whatever is given with faith. Shraddha is the name of the material offerings (donations of Havishyaanna, sesame seeds, Kush, water) made with devotion to the ancestors.
By performing Shradh, a person satisfies not only his relatives but also all beings and the world from Brahma to Trina. Worship of ancestors is considered to be the worship of Vishnu. Just as the food of humans is food, the food of animals is straw, so the food of ancestors is the essence (smell and taste) of food. Therefore, they take only the essence of food and water.
